and why its best to go organic.
Aloe Baby
While researching a safe, natural alternative to chemical
packed nappy creams after her baby daughter developed severe
nappy rash, Kerrie Raines was inspired to set up her own business
offering organic baby toiletries - http://www.aloebaby.com
"From birth my daughter Amelia suffered with nappy rash
and other skin irritations and I couldn't find anything that
soothed it quickly. I have used Aloe Vera for years on myself
and thought I would try it on my daughter to see if it helped
- and it did! I was so amazed with the results that it made me
want other mums to benefit from my find and the idea for Aloe
Baby was born.
I started to research natural products and stumbled across
organic toiletries. After reading about the chemicals contained
in day to day products I was horrified. From that moment I didn't
want to use anything but organic skin care, on myself and especially
on my baby. I found myself becoming more aware of not only the
cosmetics that I bought but also the food we ate and cleaning
products too. I threw all the 'bad' things out and replaced them
with natural organic products. I started recycling everything
I could and even invested in a composter!
I was told about a Natural and Organic show that was being
held in London. I went along with my husband to see if I could
bring alive the idea I had bouncing around in my brain! Everybody
I came into contact with at the show was so friendly and helpful
and my confidence in what I wanted to build began to grow.
After that day my mind was set; I would
set up a website selling organic baby skin care products from
different manufacturers and bring together as many different
Aloe Vera based products as possible. I contacted a web designer
who was advertising in the show's magazine. I thought they would
be perfect, as they would have an interest in what I wanted
to do. My instinct was right - I only had an idea of what I wanted
and they did the rest. As soon as I saw their designs for my
new business I knew it was right. I learnt so much
over a short period of time and really I owe that to Paul and
Sue who took me on board and helped me every step of the way. They
had created Aloe Baby better then I could have ever imagined.
At Aloe Baby we sell a variety of luxury organic skin care
& bath time products, soothing nappy rash salves, moisturising
lotions, lotions to help eczema, baby massage oils, organic towels,
organic sponges and baby gift sets. All our ranges are free from
harmful chemicals, preservatives and animal testing and are environmentally
friendly. My team and I take time to select and test the products
featured on the site to ensure that they are all effective, safe
and kind to the environment. I also take every care in selecting
my packaging, I only use recycled padded envelopes, recycled
boxes, and even my address labels are solvent free.
In the beginning when I was setting up the web site I found
it very challenging to balance bringing up Amelia with running
the business. I had lots to do and I would find myself working
until 1am after she went to bed in the evening. Now that the
web site has been completed it is a little easier and I spend
lots of time with her, we go out in the day, and I use the time
when she naps to catch up on work. I still have to find a balance
but my daughter always comes first.
My vision for the future is to eventually
have my own organic baby range but to be honest at the moment
I simply love selling organic skin care products and helping
parents to find a natural organic alternative. As more parents
become aware of the amount of dangerous chemicals that exist
in baby products it is no wonder we are all going organic.
